Eugene T. Cook, Sr. 

CEO/Owner

 

Gene is the Founder and CEO of Gene Cook Supports, LLC (GCS), which he established in 2014 with a vision to enhance quality support services and staff morale in the field of intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Before founding GCS, Gene gained extensive experience working with children and adults with disabilities in Westmoreland and Allegheny Counties. His career journey includes roles as a Direct Support Professional, Therapeutic Staff Support, Program Specialist, Regional Program Director, and Support Coordinator- each providing him with valuable insight into the needs of both individuals and staff.

Gene earned his bachelor’s degree in psychology from Westmoreland County Community College and the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg, further solidifying his expertise in the field. His combined education, hands-on experience, and dedication to innovation have shaped GCS into an organization committed to person-centered support, staff development, and community engagement.

As CEO, Gene remains actively involved in finding new and innovative ways to support both individuals and staff, fostering a positive, empowering work environment. Outside of his professional role, he enjoys spending time with his family, exploring the outdoors, and collecting antiques. His leadership continues to inspire and drive the mission of GCS forward.


Brittany Brueckner
Director of Operations

 

Brittany is an integral part of Gene Cook Supports, serving as a key figure in daily operations and ensuring seamless coordination across all aspects of the organization. Since joining GCS in November 2014, she has leveraged her 15+ years of experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities in home, community, and school settings to enhance service quality and staff support.

Brittany plays a critical role in overseeing documentation systems, coaching and training staff, and providing operational support to both employees and management. Known for her problem-solving skills and collaborative approach, she is dedicated to helping others succeed and ensuring efficient, high-quality services. Her ability to navigate challenges and implement effective solutions makes her an essential pillar of the GCS team.

Outside of work, Brittany enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, hiking, fishing, and cheering on the Pittsburgh Penguins.


Pamela Giebel
Director of Development & Quality Management

 

Pam joined Gene Cook Supports in 2018, bringing over 20 years of experience in working with children and adults with exceptional needs. She holds a master’s degree in special education from the University of Pittsburgh and is a Licensed Behavior Specialist with PA teaching certificates in Elementary and Special Education.

Throughout her career, Pam has held various roles in human services and education, including Therapeutic Staff Support (TSS), Program Specialist, Autistic Support Teacher, Director of Education, and Behavior Support Professional. She also participated in the PaTTAN Autism Initiative ABA Supports Program, where she received six years of intensive training in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and Verbal Behavior.

Passionate about fostering growth and independence in individuals with disabilities, Pam is dedicated to applying evidence-based practices to support those she serves. Outside of work, she enjoys watching her two sons play sports, camping, cooking, and thrift shopping.


Jenny Walker
Director of Behavioral Supports

 

Jenny joined Gene Cook Supports in 2017 as a Behavioral Support Professional and has served as the Director of Behavioral Services since June of 2019. Jenny has a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work from Bloomsburg University and a Masters of Arts degree in Clinical Counseling from Indiana University of Pennsylvania.  She has over twenty years of experience providing community counseling and rehabilitation services to individuals and families dealing with mental health issues and other behavioral needs.  Her career experiences have given her a deep understanding of obstacles people face within our society and the impact it can have on individuals and families. Jenny’s training in mental health and behavior analysis has given her the opportunities to support individuals and the behavioral team to best serve the needs of the individuals. Jenny gains immense personal rewards from her work through the growth she witnesses within the family and the individual’s she serves. Jenny enjoys spending time with her family, cooking, and gardening.


Cliff Leggett

Regional Program Director

Cliff is a senior employee and Regional Program Director at GCS, bringing 13 years of experience working with individuals with autism and developmental disabilities across community, day program, and residential settings. His background also includes expertise in the medical field, holding an associate’s degree as a Medical Assistant Specialist.

In his role as Regional Program Director, Cliff is responsible for coordinating and overseeing services provided to individuals, ensuring quality care and support. His duties include attending annual ISP meetings, communicating updates with Support Coordinators, individuals, families, and staff, and supervising, monitoring, and evaluating services to meet each individual’s needs. Additionally, he plays a key role in training Direct Support Professionals on health and safety requirements, conducting meet-and-greets with potential staff and families, and addressing concerns to maintain a high standard of care.

With a strong commitment to advocacy, training, and service coordination, Cliff is dedicated to ensuring individuals receive the highest level of support while fostering collaborative relationships between families, staff, and the community.


Janette Hanson

Regional Program Director

Janette is the Regional Program Director for Westmoreland County at GCS. She began her career with GCS in 2016 as a Direct Support Professional and has since advanced into a leadership role, bringing years of hands-on experience and a deep commitment to serving individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

In her current role, Janette oversees all services in Westmoreland County, managing new referrals, staffing, ISP meetings, and ongoing communication with individuals and families to ensure their needs are met with compassion and excellence. Prior to joining GCS, she spent five years working in an IDD residential group home, further strengthening her expertise in providing person-centered care.

Janette is passionate about advocacy, individualized support, and fostering strong relationships between individuals, families, and staff. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, baking, and playing games.


Melissa O’Brien

Director of Communications and Outreach

Melissa joined GCS in 2017 as a Direct Support Professional and transitioned to the leadership team in 2019. With over 25 years of experience working with children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, as well as eight years in the educational system, she has extensive expertise in individualized support, staff training, community relations, and grant writing.

In 2024, Melissa assumed the role of Director of Communications and Outreach, where she focuses on developing strategies to enhance GCS’s presence in the community. She works closely with local businesses, schools, and organizations to build partnerships, foster inclusion, and promote a positive image of individuals with disabilities and Gene Cook Supports.

Melissa also serves as the president of Amanda’s Heart Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit and partner of GCS that provides essential resources to individuals with disabilities in Southwestern Pennsylvania. Her dedication to advocacy, outreach, and community engagement reflects her commitment to improving lives and expanding opportunities for those she serves.


Tanner Montgomery

Residential Director

Tanner began his career with GCS in January 2018, quickly advancing into leadership roles. He became the Program Coordinator for Allegheny County in 2019, later transitioning into the role of Regional Program Director. In 2024, Tanner took on the role of Residential Director, leading GCS’s expansion into residential services and ensuring high-quality support for individuals in home-based settings.

He holds a degree in Public Health from Slippery Rock University and has dedicated his career to developing and coordinating programs for individuals with disabilities. With experience as a Direct Support Professional in personal care home settings, Tanner brings hands-on expertise and a deep understanding of individualized care.

As a key member of the GCS leadership team, Tanner is committed to combining his public health knowledge and professional experience to enhance service quality, promote independence, and support individuals and families in meaningful ways.


Brittany Kowalewski

HR Generalist & Regional Program Director

Brittany brings over a decade of experience working with children and adults with intellectual disabilities, a field she finds deeply rewarding due to the genuine and caring nature of the individuals she supports. She began her career as a Direct Support Professional in 2016 and, through dedication and leadership, advanced to the role of Regional Program Director in 2021. In Fall of 2024, she further expanded her impact by stepping into the role of HR Generalist, where she applies her expertise in human resources and program management to support both staff and individuals.

In addition to her hands-on experience, Brittany holds a degree with a focus in Human Resources, allowing her to bring both compassion and organizational expertise to her role. She is passionate about creating meaningful opportunities for individuals with disabilities while fostering a supportive and inclusive environment.

As a working mother of three and a dedicated hockey mom, Brittany maintains a full and active lifestyle. In her free time, she enjoys camping, trips to the beach, reading, and spending quality time with her family.


Erin Centofanto

Director of Health & Wellness & Activities Coordinator 

Erin serves as the Director of Health & Wellness and Activities Coordinator at Gene Cook Supports. She joined the GCS team in 2018, bringing a wealth of experience in health promotion, fitness, and wellness education.

Erin holds a degree in Physical Education/Exercise Physiology from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and has worked in hospitals, schools, businesses, and personal care home settings, developing programs and educating individuals on the importance of overall health and well-being. She is a certified BLS Instructor, Yoga Fitness Instructor, Health & Wellness Coach, and Therapeutic Massage Practitioner, equipping her with a holistic approach to physical, mental, and emotional well-being.

At GCS, Erin is committed to incorporating all aspects of health and wellness into programming that enhances the lives of individuals, focusing on both physical fitness and emotional balance. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, working on personal growth, and cherishing moments with her daughter.


Michael-Patrick Buckley

Director of Finance 

MP joined Gene Cook Supports as a Direct Support Professional in the winter of 2015. With a strong background in finance, he earned his degree in Accounting from Seton Hill University, where he was also a member of the baseball team. He later went on to obtain a master’s degree in management, further strengthening his expertise in organizational leadership.

In early 2019, MP transitioned into a management role as the Payroll/HR Representative, and by April 2022, he moved into the position of Financial Officer. His dedication and leadership led to his promotion as Director of Finance in July 2024.

A natural extrovert with a charismatic and energetic personality, MP is deeply passionate about working with individuals with intellectual disabilities. Outside of his professional life, he enjoys an active lifestyle, including coaching baseball and golf, training in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, working out, running, biking, and spending quality time with friends and family.

MP’s commitment to both his career and personal passions reflects his drive to make a meaningful impact in the lives of those around him.


Autumn Krisfalusi

Director of Human Resources

Autumn is the Director of Human Resources at Gene Cook Supports, where she has been a dedicated member of the team since 2020. She initially joined GCS as the Supplies Coordinator before transitioning into the role of Human Resources Generalist in March 2021. Recognized for her leadership and expertise, she was promoted to Director of Human Resources in January 2024.

Autumn holds a bachelor’s degree from Penn State University and brings over a decade of experience in the Human Resources field, where she has developed a strong foundation in employee relations, recruitment, and organizational development. She is committed to fostering a positive and supportive workplace environment, ensuring that both staff and individuals receive the guidance and resources needed to thrive.

Beyond her professional role, Autumn enjoys camping, taking road trips, and spending quality time with her family, embracing every opportunity to explore and create lasting memories.


Chris Giebel

IT Coordinator

Chris is the IT Coordinator at GCS, where he plays a crucial role in managing and maintaining the organization’s technology infrastructure. He officially joined the leadership team as a full-time employee in 2021, after previously working as an independent contractor for GCS during the COVID-19 pandemic, where he was instrumental in purchasing and deploying remote technology to support staff.

With a degree in Computer Networking and a deep passion for technology, Chris oversees all aspects of IT operations at GCS, including computer and server systems, mobile devices, email, website management, and document infrastructures. His expertise ensures that GCS staff have the reliable and secure technology they need to provide high-quality support services.

Outside of work, Chris enjoys spending time with his wife and their two young sons, engaging in sports, camping, and watching football. His dedication to both his profession and his family reflects his commitment to innovation, problem-solving, and teamwork in every aspect of his life


Jamie Anderson

Regional Program Director

Jamie joined GCS in 2019 as a Direct Support Professional and is now a valued member of the Regional Program Director team for Allegheny County, as well as the company’s Safety Committee. She attended Westmoreland County Community College and is passionate about furthering her education in interpersonal communication.

Jamie finds immense joy in engaging with individuals, often describing some of her happiest days as those spent supporting and connecting with them. With a fantastic sense of humor and a passion for helping others, she brings energy and positivity to both her work and personal life.

In her free time, Jamie enjoys spending time with family, friends, and animals, as well as crafting, cooking, and playing all types of games. She also holds a title she’s particularly proud of- the 2024 Anderson Family Undefeated Cornhole Champion!


Chanel Bilberry

IHCS Coordinator

Chanel joined Gene Cook Supports in March 2024 as a Direct Support Professional, where her dedication and compassionate approach quickly made her a valued member of the team. Her commitment to providing exceptional care led her to transition into the role of In-Home and Community Supports (IHCS) Coordinator, where she now plays a vital role in ensuring high-quality support for individuals.

As IHCS Coordinator, Chanel serves as the main point of contact for individuals, families, and staff, overseeing all administrative responsibilities related to those she supports. Despite her leadership role, she remains actively involved in direct support, continuing to build meaningful connections with those she serves.

Chanel is known for her enthusiasm, reliability, and person-centered approach, making a lasting impact on both individuals and their families. Her dedication to fostering independence and enhancing quality of life is evident in all that she does.


Aubrey Curry

Clinical Coordinator of Behavior Supports

Aubrey joined GCS in 2016 as an Enhanced Habilitation Specialist, later transitioning into a Behavior Support Professional role before being promoted to Clinical Coordinator of Behavior Supports in 2023. She holds a master’s degree in special education with a concentration in Applied Behavior Analysis and Autism from California University of Pennsylvania.

Aubrey is a Licensed Behavior Specialist in Pennsylvania, a Comprehensive Crisis Management Trainer, and a Sexuality Educator and Trainer for individuals with disabilities and their support systems. She is passionate about providing individualized, person-centered support to enhance the quality of life for those she serves.

Outside of work, Aubrey enjoys spending time with her husband, dog, and family, whether boating on Conneaut Lake, PA, or floating the “crick” in West Virginia.


Tressa Henry

Administrative Coordinator of Behavior Supports

Tressa joined Gene Cook Supports in 2018 as a Direct Support Professional before transitioning to the behavior department, where she continues to make a meaningful impact. Her passion for supporting individuals with intellectual disabilities and autism began in 2006 while working at a specialized school for autism, and she has since dedicated nearly 20 years to the field.

Tressa holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown and recently earned an MBA in Organizational Management from Eastern University. She is committed to applying her expertise in behavioral support and organizational leadership to enhance the lives of those she serves.

In her free time, Tressa enjoys live music, trivia nights, exploring new places, and going on adventures with her niece and nephew.


Victoria Leonzio

CPS and Employment Services Coordinator

Victoria is the Community Participation Supports (CPS) and Employment Services Coordinator at Gene Cook Supports. She joined the organization in 2024, bringing a passion for creating meaningful opportunities for individuals with disabilities to engage in their communities.

In her role, Victoria coordinates enriching community participation experiences, ensuring that individuals have access to inclusive activities that promote personal growth, social connections, and independence. She is also dedicated to supporting employment services, helping individuals find and maintain meaningful work that aligns with their skills and goals.

Victoria is committed to fostering engagement, empowerment, and inclusion, making a lasting impact on the lives of those she serves. Her dedication to community-based supports reflects her belief that everyone deserves the opportunity to participate fully and meaningfully in society.


Nikole Neptune

Behavior Support Coordinator

Nikole joined GCS in 2024, bringing 20 years of experience working with children and adults with mild to severe behavioral challenges in schools, homes, and community settings.

She holds a master’s degree in special education and applied Behavior Analysis from Mercyhurst University and has served in various roles throughout her career, including Therapeutic Staff Support, Behavior Specialist, Director of Behavior Analysis, and Lead Behavior Analyst. Her extensive background has equipped her with the skills and knowledge to develop effective, individualized interventions that promote growth and independence.

Nikole is deeply passionate and dedicated to helping individuals achieve meaningful outcomes that enhance their quality of life. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her family, engaging in outdoor activities, and baking.


Jessica Rudisill

Music Coordinator/GCS Choir Director

Jessica holds a degree in Music Education from Mercyhurst University and has a diverse background in teaching music across various educational settings. She has worked with students of all ages, from preschool and daycare to elementary and high school, bringing her passion for music to learners at every stage.

At Gene Cook Supports, Jessica shares her love of music through engaging music and dance classes, enriching the lives of individuals with creative expression. As a certified Zumba Instructor, she brings energy and movement to her classes, fostering both joy and wellness. Additionally, Jessica serves as the choir director for the GCS Choir, leading individuals in musical performances that celebrate their talents and passion for singing.

During her free time, Jessica enjoys life on her farm, where she spends time with her dog, three sheep, chickens, and two adorable miniature donkeys. Her dedication to both her profession and her animals reflects her nurturing and vibrant spirit, which she brings to her role every day.

Shannon Sapolich

Behavior Support Professional & Farm Manager

Shannon joined Gene Cook Supports in 2022 as a Behavior Support Professional and now also manages The Farm program. She holds a master’s degree in clinical social work from the University of Chicago and began her career in Chicago, working in the field before embarking on a journey of travel and teaching. Her experiences took her to the Galápagos Islands, where she taught English before returning to Western Pennsylvania in 2020.

Upon her return, Shannon developed a passion for rescuing and rehabilitating both domestic and wild animals, leading her to train as a wildlife rehabilitator. Her love for nature and sustainability further inspired her to earn the title of Master Gardener through Penn State Extension in 2024, equipping her with the skills to enhance the gardening programs at The Farm.

Shannon’s unique role- combining behavioral support, gardening, and animal care- aligns with her belief in the healing power of nature and animal interaction. She is passionate about fostering a connection to nature for the individuals she supports, encouraging growth, learning, and well-being through hands-on experiences.

In her spare time, Shannon cares for a menagerie of rescued animals, including chickens, ducks, guinea pigs, miniature pigs, and rabbits.


Tawnya Vayda

In Home & Community Supports Coordinator

Tawnya is a dedicated professional committed to supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. She began her career in 2020 as a Direct Support Professional at GCS, where her dedication and leadership skills led to her promotion to Coordinator in 2024.

Tawnya is known for her compassion, empathy, and unwavering commitment to making a positive impact in the lives of those she serves. Her ability to foster meaningful connections and create supportive environments reflects her deep passion for her work.

Outside of her professional role, family remains at the core of Tawnya’s life. She enjoys spending quality time with her loved ones- including her beloved dog, Remi. The beach is her favorite retreat, providing a place to relax and recharge.

With a strong sense of purpose and a heartfelt dedication to her work, Tawnya continues to bring warmth, leadership, and a caring spirit to her role every day.


Josh Wojcik

Regional Program Director

Josh joined Gene Cook Supports in February 2022 as a Direct Support Professional, where he developed a deep passion for supporting individuals and helping them engage in their favorite activities. His dedication and leadership led to his promotion to Regional Program Director in the summer of 2024.

He holds a Bachelor of Science in Communications and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Pittsburgh. Additionally, he is an NASM Corrective Exercise Specialist and Performance Enhancement Specialist, bringing a strong understanding of movement and performance to his role.

Outside of work, Josh is an avid hockey goalie, having played for the University of Pittsburgh, and enjoys staying active through ice and deck hockey, fitness training, and gaming. Most of all, he values the time he spends with the individuals he supports, watching them thrive and enjoy the activities they love.
